Edward III and the Angel Investor

Edward III and the Angel Investor

The date is September 1349. Edward has had an idea for a new club. But he needs funding so he approaches an angel investor.

The Facts

Edward created the Order of the Garter based on the Order of the Band in Spain. It was indeed only a small number of Knights that would joust and model ideal behaviours for society which was very violent at the time. He was obsessed with the legend of King Arthur and his Round Table and did try and have a new room built at Windsor that would hold one.

All his experiences and skills mentioned such as bribery, not understanding taxation, getting into debt, trying to stop the salaries of his officials and fleeing the country to avoid creditors is all true. As is him leaving behind his wife, son and two Earls as security. He did have very neat handwriting, enjoyed practical jokes and fancy dress parties.
